Texts

Occasionally, my husband and I text each other while we are in the same room. I think every couple does it. It's a way of having a private conversation while you are in the presence of others.

So clearly I need to publish that here, on my public blog.

Here are the texts I sent Jesse this morning while he was on the phone with a client:

1. My garlic is still floating.
2. Do the people coming this weekend know that there are king tides?
3. Want to leave kids home and go grocery shopping tomorrow?
4. Should I knit and listen to podcasts all day or should I do something productive like clean the fridge?
5. Do you like the new sheets? I think I'll like them in summer, but for winter I think I don't like them as much as flannel.
6. Should I cut my hair?
7. Maybe I'll make another Baby Yoda.
9. Did you notice that 7 was not a question?
10. Did you notice that I skipped 8 entirely?
11. Should I try to find another pair of jeans like this or do these make me look like a middle aged woman who has completely given up on femininity?
12. Are we frying clams this weekend?

Here are his replies:

1. The holes need to be bigger.
2. That will be our little secret. There's shady talk about letting C float away. Dear NSA: we are not planning shenanigans. It's a joke.
3. Yes.
4. Chill.
5. I prefer flannel in the winter also.
6. Sure!
7. Maybe.
8. Gerard Depardieu.
9. Yes.
10. Only because you posted 10 before I read the rest.
11. Comfy jeans are always yes.
12. Probably?

My nearly two decade marriage, my friends.
